PNG Building Project

Following the successful start of the Sunrise Bethel Christian School support is now needed to construct buildings. Improved facilities at the school will provide the best educational learning environment for our students now and in the future.

We have completed a master plan of the Port Moresby site which shows the staged construction of school facilities including classrooms, amenities, administration, library and staff housing.

STAGE 1

The establishment of the Sunrise Bethel school, opened February 2010.

STAGE 2

The second stage includes the construction of housing for staff on the school site. Housing in Port Moresby is severely limited; it is paramount that our staff are provided with secure accommodation within the safety of the school and Church compound.

With your support we are aiming to finalise the first stage of the construction before the end of 2011. It is envisaged that the facilities will be built through:

• The use of mission based skilled labour, mostly volunteers from Australia

• Local materials where available funded through financial support

• Production & fabrication of local materials including brick making

• Australian expertise in design and engineering

• Building materials donated by corporate sponsors and shipped to Port Moresby

STAGE 3

Stage 3 will be the construction of 3 classrooms for the upper primary. Planning for this commenced January 2012, as the completed facilities will be required by January 2013. Anticipated funding required is $75, 000. We need assistance to raise these funds to ensure we can continue to offer our students education through to the completion of their primary years.

GALA DINNER FUND RAISER

In order to help fund these classrooms we are holding a GALA Dinner, 22nd September 2012 at the Observatory Function Centre, hosted by well-known and respected TV presenter, Lisa McAskill (http://www.lisamcaskill.com.au/).
