Head of Schools Profile

Kym was educated at Morphett Vale Primary School and then Christies Beach High School. He received his tertiary qualifications at the Sturt College of Advanced Education which is now Flinders University. Kym’s first teaching appointment was at Tyndale Christian School in Salisbury teaching in the upper primary years.

In 1985 he made the move to Sunrise Christian School and taught Grade 5 and 6 at the Fullarton Campus. In 1989 Sunrise commenced a campus in Paradise (R-7) in the north eastern suburbs of Adelaide. Kym was invited to become the inaugural Campus Principal to establish the Paradise Campus and taught Grade 1 through to 7. In 1994 the school established a school at Morphett Vale (R-7) in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. Kym was once again invited to be the inaugural Campus Principal of the Morphett Vale Campus also teaching Grades 3-7.

In 1999, Kym became the Principal of Sunrise Christian School as a whole. In 2003 Kym saw the transition of the Maranatha Christian School into the care of Sunrise Christian School. The school is now the Marion Campus of the school and is an R-12 campus. In April 2005 Naracoorte Christian School, in the South East was adopted by Sunrise and became the fifth Sunrise Campus.

In addition to Kym’s role as Principal at Sunrise, in 2008 Kym became the Head of Schools for Sunrise Temple Schools consisting of Temple Christian College (2 Campuses) and Sunrise Christian School (5 Campuses.)  This role encompasses many facets from walking the 2 schools together towards the one vision -  to helping establish international / mission schools in regions such as PNG & Fiji. 

In 2009, Sunrise Temple Schools, now Adelaide Christian Schools took over the governance of Whyalla Christian School and renamed the school Sunrise Christian School, Whyalla.  As Head of Schools for ACS Kym oversees the development of the Sunrise Whyalla School.

January 2010 the Head of Schools role developed into a full time capacity and Kym had the priviledge of opening our first international missions school in Papua New Guinea in February 2010.  Sunrise Bethel Christian School commenced with 90 students and currently has 70 students on the waiting list.
