Welcome
WELCOME
Welcome to the Naracoorte Campus. We are excited that you have chosen to investigate what the Naracoorte Campus of Sunrise Christian School has to offer your child. We pride ourselves in providing an excellent educational environment for Christian parents desiring a Biblical Christian education for their children. At Sunrise we approach the eight areas of learning with the aim to successfully educate each student to achieve personal excellence and develop the attributes of a quality leader to help fulfill their God given destiny. We encourage our teachers to be an extension of the home to make the most of those “teachable moments” to train and reinforce right behaviour to honour and glorify God, and to instill a healthy and rounded world view.
History of Naracoorte Christian School
The idea for a Christian School in Naracoorte was first suggested by a number of parents in 1995. In 1997 a steering committee was formed and in 1998 all requirements were met and authority was given to commence the school.
In February 1999 the Naracoorte Christian School opened in the original Naracoorte Public School building (opened in 1879 and given to the National Trust in 1967), with 24 students and Mr. Bill Greenslade as Principal. At this stage the school had 2 classrooms and the office was situated in a small room that was the original kitchen.
The year 2000 brought many changes. The school gained a third classroom and an administration building was converted from an old storeroom into an office for the bursar and Principal to use. 2003 saw the addition of a fourth classroom and Mrs. Anne Dolan appointed as Principal.
Over the years the school gained access to the entire property which has enabled us to develop the area further incorporating a resource centre, a LAP room and kitchen. Through God’s provision a new administration block was started and completed in time for the 2004 year.
History of Sunrise Christian School, Naracoorte
April 2005 brought another exciting development in the life of our school when it became a campus of Sunrise Christian School.
Since the adoption of the Naracoorte Campus, Sunrise has nearly doubled its numbers and therefore has needed to develop further classrooms in a short space of time. It wasn’t long before the site was outgrown and the need to look for land was critical in order for future growth. In 2009 we were blessed to be able to secure a new block of land in the local community. This was welcomed with much excitment. Stage 1 of our buildings plans have been completed and we are now fully operational on our new site. Further developments will take place over time.
Sunrise Christian School has grown from one Campus at Fullarton of 32 students to 5 Campuses and over 1030 students. As it stands now Sunrise Christian School has five Campuses – Fullarton Grade Rec - 7, Paradise Grade Rec - 7, Morphett Vale Grade Rec - 7, Marion Grade Rec – 12 and Naracoorte Grade Rec – 7.
Mr. Kym Golding served in the capacity as Principal from 1999 - 2009. In the ten years of his oversight the school gained a fourth and fifth campus and grown to over 900 students. In 2010 Mr. Lee Avery commenced in the role of Principal over Sunrise, while Kym Golding became the Head of Schools overseeing all schools encompassed in the Adelaide Christian Schools group. Sunrise Christian School’s 5 campuses now have over 1030 students in total.
In 2009 Sunrise Christian School, Whyalla was developed. This school has doubled in size over 12 months with the outstanding leadership of Mrs. Jacqui Munro as Principal of the school. It now has over 150 students including an Early Learning Centre and has increased its numbers by over 100 in just 3 years.
In 2010 Sunrise Bethel Christian School in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea was birthed. Mr. Kym Golding played a paramount part in the development of this.
The Campus Principal for the Naracoorte Campus is Mrs. Anne Dolan and she has served in this role since 2003 with Naracoorte Christian School and since 2005 as the Campus Principal of the Naracoorte Campus of Sunrise Christian School. For nearly 7 years the school operated from 12-14 Rolland Avenue, but as of July 2011 the school moved to it’s newly developed facility on 72 Caves Road, Naracoorte. This beautiful parcel of land & new buildings have raised much excitement for the future of the school.
