Welcome

WELCOME

Welcome to the Morphett Vale Campus.  We are excited that you have chosen to investigate what the Morphett Vale Campus of Sunrise Christian School has to offer your child.  We pride ourselves in providing an excellent educational environment for Christian parents desiring a Biblical Christian education for their children.  At Sunrise we approach the eight areas of learning with the aim to successfully educate each student to achieve personal excellence and develop the attributes of a quality leader to help fulfill their God given destiny.  We encourage our teachers to be an extension of the home to make the most of those “teachable moments” to train and reinforce right behaviour to honour and glorify God, and to instill a healthy and rounded world view.

Sunrise – Morphett Vale
In 1991, the Skekinah Church approached Sunrise with the proposal that another Campus of Sunrise be set up on their church property.  The school began the process of application to begin a 3rd Campus by 1994.  John Arnold designed a magnificent building which could be built in stages.  $70 000 worth of steel was purchased for $10 000.  In February 1994, the Morphett Vale Campus was opened.

In 1994 Mr. Kym Golding took up the position of Campus Principal at Morphett Vale and Mr. Andrew Woodhouse, who had been teaching at Fullarton, stepped into the position of Campus Principal at Paradise.

In 1997, the funding level of the school increased and another grant success meant that the Administration Block at Morphett Vale could be completed, followed by development of shade and oval areas and a playground over the next few years.

Over the years the Morphett Vale Campus has been increasing in student numbers and improving its facilities.  In 1999 Mr. Kym Golding stepped into the position of Principal over all Campuses of Sunrise, replacing Mrs. Ruth Paterson who had served in that role for 14 years.  Mr. Lee Avery therefore stepped into the role of Campus Principal at the Fullarton Campus and Mr. David Fontaine stepped into the role of Campus Principal at Morphett Vale.  In 2003 Mr. Matthew Paterson took on the role of Campus Principal at Morphett Vale where he served until 2006.  Mr. Andrew Ready served in the Campus Principal role from 2006 - 2010.  Andrew has now returned to the classroom and remains with the team at Sunrise teaching at the Fullarton Campus.

Sunrise Christian School has grown from one Campus at Fullarton of 32 students to 5 Campuses and over 1030 students.   As it stands now Sunrise Christian School has five Campuses – Fullarton Grade Rec - 7, Paradise Grade Rec - 7, Morphett Vale Grade Rec - 7, Marion Grade Rec – 12 and Naracoorte Grade Rec – 7.

Mr. Kym Golding served in the capacity as Principal from 1999 - 2009. In the ten years of his oversight the school gained a fourth and fifth campus and grown to over 900 students.  In 2010 Mr. Lee Avery commenced in the role of Principal over Sunrise, while Kym Golding became Head of Schools overseeing all schools encompassed in the Adelaide Christian Schools group.  Sunrise Christian School’s 5 campuses now have over 1030 students in total.

In 2009 Sunrise Christian School, Whyalla was developed.  This school doubled in size over 12 months with the outstanding leadership of Mrs. Jacqui Munro as Principal of the school. It now has over 150 students including an Early Learning Centre and has increased its numbers by over 100 in just 3 years.

In 2010 Sunrise Bethel Christian School in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea was birthed.  Mr. Kym Golding played a paramount part in the development of this.

The current Campus Principal at the Morphett Vale Campus is Mrs. Rina Visser.  She commenced in the role as of January 2011.
