Welcome to the Marion Campus. We are excited that you have chosen to investigate what the Marion Campus of Sunrise Christian School has to offer your child. We pride ourselves in providing an excellent educational environment for Christian parents desiring a Biblical Christian education for their children. At Sunrise we approach the eight areas of learning with the aim to successfully educate each student to achieve personal excellence and develop the attributes of a quality leader to help fulfill their God given destiny. We encourage our teachers to be an extension of the home; to make the most of those “teachable moments” to train and reinforce right behaviour to honour and glorify God, and to instill a healthy and rounded world view.
Sunrise - Marion
It was in August 2002 that Sunrise purchased the Marion Campus from the Maranatha Christian Assembly. The church had contacted Sunrise about taking over the school which it had lovingly grown over some 20 years. Since 2002 the numbers at the Campus have more than doubled. Not only did the purchase of the Campus swell the ranks of enrolments, administrative and teaching staff; it also introduced its own 8 – 12 programme replacing the existing ACE programme. The Marion Campus is the only Sunrise Campus to house a high school. It is a single stream high school modelled on the Sunrise credo of a family atmosphere that emphasises godly character and assists each student to reach their potential.
One of our challenges has been the building programme that the school has had to undertake to house the demand for placements at the Campus. In order to help house these growing numbers a new two storey educational complex was built. This magnificent complex was officially opened by Dr. Andrew Southcott MP in August 2006.
Sunrise Christian School has grown from one Campus at Fullarton of 32 students to 5 Campuses and over 1030 students. As it stands now Sunrise Christian School has five Campuses – Fullarton Grade Rec - 7, Paradise Grade Rec - 7, Morphett Vale Grade Rec - 7, Marion Grade Rec – 12 and Naracoorte Grade Rec – 7.
Mr. Kym Golding served in the capacity as Principal from 1999 - 2009. In the ten years of his oversight the school gained a fourth and fifth campus and grown to over 900 students. In 2010 Mr. Lee Avery commenced in the role of Principal over Sunrise, while Kym Golding became the Head of Schools overseeing all schools encompassed in the Adelaide Christian Schools group. Sunrise Christian School’s 5 campuses now have over 1030 students in total.
In 2009 Sunrise Christian School, Whyalla was developed. This school doubled in size over 12 months with the outstanding leadership of Mrs. Jacqui Munro as Principal of the school. It now has over 150 students including an Early Learning Centre and has increased its numbers by over 100 in just 3 years.
In 2010 Sunrise Bethel Christian School in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea was birthed. Mr. Kym Golding played a paramount part in the development of this.
The current Principal of Sunrise Christian School is Mr. Lee Avery. He commenced in this role in 2010. Lee is also the Campus Principal at the Marion Campus and he has served in this role since 2002. To assist Lee in his role, Mr. Phil Paterson is the Deputy Campus Principal at Marion.
